Cape Cod Rail Trail Update

Imagine riding your bicycle from Bourne to Provincetown, crossing the entire length of Cape Cod on a safe, protected bike path. That’s the ultimate vision for improving the Cape Cod Rail Trail.

The Yarmouth extension of the trail is nearly complete, and in late June, cyclists and walkers were allowed to cross the new bridge spanning Route 134 in Dennis.  The bridge will be open to the public soon, and work on a span crossing the Bass River is underway. That bridge will be named in the memory of George Allaire, former Yarmouth Department of Public Works director and tireless advocate for improving the Cape Cod Rail Trail.

Governor Charlie Baker visited Cape Cod on June 28 to commemorate and celebrate the project.
