Chatham Crash Causes Lengthy Road Closure
CHATHAM, MA — Shore Road between Old Harbor Road and Barcliff Avenue in Chatham was closed for approximately four hours early this morning following a three-car crash.
At 1:09 AM Chatham Police and Fire personnel responded to the scene on Shore Road near Courtney Road. Police say a Dodge Ram pickup truck crossed the center line and struck a Toyota Tundra, sending the vehicle spinning off the road. The pickup continued to travel in the opposite lane and struck a Nissan Sentra head-on.
Three people were taken to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Police charged 33 year old Luke Lowans of Chatham, the driver of the Dodge Ram, with operating under the influence of alcohol, operating to endanger, and a marked lanes violation.
Chatham Police and Fire were assisted at the scene by Harwich Police and Fire and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.
