BARNSTABLE, MA (September 21, 2017) — A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the Cape and Islands, as Jose appears to be in a holding pattern off the coast of Nantucket.

The Cape and Islands began feeling the impact of Tropical Storm Jose mid-day Wednesday, with rain and wind continuing through the night. The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee has been meeting regularly. Following a conference call this morning, the organization reports that Tropical Storm Jose is nearly stationary around 145 miles southeast of Nantucket. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Cape Cod and the Islands.

Today, Jose could bring wind gusts of 45 to 55 miles per hour on Cape Cod, and gusts of up to 60 miles per hour on Nantucket.

Erosion of east-facing coastline on Cape Cod is possible, and we could see some scattered power outages.

Wind is expected to calm down overnight.
