Endless opportunities lie ahead to delve into all things art and culture with the 2018 summer kickoff of the Hyannis HyArts Cultural District festivities. Cape Cod residents have been gearing up for the plethora of exciting events that the Town of Barnstable has commissioned to take place throughout the summer and into the fall season, especially the HyArts Artist Shanties.

Now open, the highly anticipated Shanties involve a number of talented artists and artisans (over 95 this year), most of them local, who gather to show the public their work and/or perform. Grab a friend, or enjoy a day to yourself meandering along the Walkway-to-the-Sea and meet the creators behind the art as well as browse the amazing pieces they have to offer. There is NO FEE to attend, aside from any personal purchases of the hand-crafted works, which range from jewelry and ceramics to wood carving and tapestry.

Live music lies at the heart of the Shanties festivities, as a wide range of bands and solo artists play every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the district. No show is the same, so visitors can always expect something new to experience! On Mondays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m., Live Lunches are held where an array of delicious food can be enjoyed while the musicians showcase their pieces. The HyArts Artist Shanties take place in two different locations along Hyannis Harbor: Bismore Park, and the Harbor Overlook/corner South & Ocean.
