The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women is part of a state-wide initiative to empower women through free salary negotiation workshops. The Just Ask! Workshops aim to provide the tools for women to mitigate the negative impacts of the gender wage gap and act on their own behalf to ensure fair pay. This program is being rolled out in collaboration with the Treasurer’s OEE, AAUW and MA Community Colleges.

The Just Ask! program goal is to train at least 50 women to become facilitators, and therefore hold at least 100 salary negotiation workshops, in 2018.

If you know of anyone who might like to become a facilitator, they can register to be trained here:, and email questions.

This two-step program relies on the support of community leaders to be successful. It’s free and easy to become a workshop facilitator. All you need to do is:

  1. Sign up and complete one 2-hour training webinar via the AAUW website:

-If a number of people from one region would prefer an in-person training, this can be arranged.

  1. Once trained, facilitators should host two salary negotiation workshops at your local community college in 2018.

-AAUW will connect you with a contact at your local community college to arrange the dates of your workshops once you’re trained.

-AAUW will also provide workbooks for facilitators to guide workshop attendees through on the day
