Come see the
Music and Media- a collaboration with the Cape Symphony and Conservatory
This Winter and Spring the Cape Cod Community Media Center staff took on several special projects in collaboration with the Cape Symphony and Conservatory. In this day and age of ubiquitous Internet connectivity, the Symphony and Conservatory realized the value of the remote classroom(s) and the opportunity to bring music to those who could not physically attend a concert.
Remote Distance Learning with JamKazam
Project lead and Media Center staff member Jay Sheehan worked with the staff at the Cape Conservatory to roll out a pilot test of the App JamKazam- “Using JamKazam, you can now play music with other musicians from your homes across the Internet as if you were sitting in the same room. You can record your performances at the track level, share your recordings, and even broadcast your live sessions to family, friends, and fans.” The pilot test went well, with the instructor at the Conservatory’s Barnstable campus and the students at the Falmouth Library- stay tuned, more coming soon!
Streaming Mozart…at Last, a Cape Symphony concert, to McCarthy Care Center
Project lead and Media Center staff member Ivan Rambhadjan and a crew of 7 executed a live camera production of the Cape Symphony and streamed it live to the residents of the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich. Some of the highlights of the production included remote mounted cameras, backstage interviews with soloist Jae Cosmos Lee and conductor Jung-Ho Pak and several DSLR cameras in the mix for a truly cinematic look and feel to the concert.
Up next on the collaboration is a live stream of the Music Memory event to all the participating teams schools!
Music Memory is designed to reach all children, not just music students, and give them a life-long love of music. The nationally-recognized curriculum provides students in the 3rd through 6th grades an in-depth study of 16 selected compositions each year.
