Media Center logoCape Cod Community Media Center (C3TV Channel 99), a state-of the-art Public Access TV Station on Cape Cod, is hiring a Membership Engagement and Communications Manager to support the growth and visibility of our member producers, expert training, facility and programming on Channel 99. This full-time position is based in Dennisport, MA.

ABOUT CAPE COD COMMUNITY MEDIA CENTER

The Media Center’s mission is to build community through media, enhance democratic communication, and facilitate free expression by providing our five towns with a state-of-the-art media resource center. The Media Center offers cutting edge facilities, equipment/software and education for our members. We have a highly regarded training programs for audio and video production, editing, digital content creation, Internships and Summer Camps for Youth.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Membership Engagement and Communications Manager will serve as the lead staff person for cultivation and engagement of the Media Center’s membership base, strategic communications with members and within the broader field of our community. Fulfilling these roles will require strong communications skills and close teamwork with the Media Center’s Administrative team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all internal and external communications for the Media Center.

Develop and implement membership engagement and communications strategy for the organization. In particular, to facilitate peer to peer interaction among members, develop a regular membership and communications calendar of activities, and emphasize converting visitors who attend or participate in Media Center programming and events into active Media Center members. The manager will work with other staff to identify any new tools, approaches, or capacities that Media Center may consider adopting in our membership and communications work. This position will also coordinate and manage our existing member/facility/reservation online database.

Maintain strong relationship with all local media and provide press releases and stories of local interest concerning The Media Center. This requires strong writing skills as communications will include blogs, newsletters, traditional news stories and social media.

Provide response to inquiries from local producers, viewers, town government officials, and media organizations. Contact businesses about their interest in sponsoring or underwriting the Media Center programming and events.

Plan and publicize special events and activities for the benefit of membership or to enhance the image of the Media Center in the community.

Provide marketing, publicity, and public relations plans and campaigns for consideration by the Executive Director and assist in the implement them.

Write and manage content on the website, e-marketing and social media communications. This includes preparing a regular e-newsletter, regular Twitter and Facebook updates, and periodic updates to members via email. This position will look for opportunities to highlight Media Center members work and thought leadership on relevant topics.

QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of experience as a membership and/or communications professional
Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
Strong organizational and project management skills in a fast-paced environment
Capacity to prioritize, work as part of a team, be flexible, and meet deadlines
Experience with one or more CRM databases (we currently use RueShare)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Detail-oriented
Personable, good sense of humor
Bachelor’s degree or comparable training in communications, sales, membership development, marketing or public relations.

Experience in a media production environment; proven deadline writing ability and experience interfacing with the public media.
Adept at communications using digital technologies and social networking software applications
Ability to write creatively and concisely, under pressure and on deadline, to produce articles and emails that capture the interest of viewers, producers, and underwriters.

Excellent interpersonal interaction and communication skills, a sense of self-directed responsibility and creativity, and a sense of enthusiasm and optimism at work.
Ability to interact warmly with staff and the public, and ability to work independently.

Bonus Skills:

Knowledge of philanthropy, community development and/or community organizing
Prior experience with customer service, member services, or client services
Experience as a journalist or publicist
Desktop publishing or graphic design skills
A passion for Filmmaking, Photograpy and Audio
