HYANNIS, MA (July 24, 2017) — Local officials are lauding the addition of a new bus stop at Barnstable Municipal Airport, saying it brings a boost to local efforts to improve multi-modal transportation.

Peter Pan Bus Lines will now stop at Barnstable Municipal Airport on its way to and from Logan Airport in Boston. The bus will originate at the Hyannis Transportation Center, and will continue to serve the Barnstable and Sagamore commuter parking lots.

“This is our first attempt to come in and connect to the airport. We think it is a beautiful airport in a beautiful town,” said Frank Dougherty, Peter Pan Bus Lines Vice President of Operations. “We had tremendous cooperation getting this done, the public and private cooperation to make this happen, taking traffic off the roads, providing safe, secure parking and additional service up to the airport, we think is going to be a great addition to our service and to the Town.”

“I think this is something that is critically important for our community,” said Cape and Islands State Senator Julian Cyr. “Having driven up last week and spending 2.5 hours in traffic getting from Boston to the [Cape Cod] Canal, I think the more we need to do to push options for people to get to and from Boston, to and from the airport, that connectivity is really crucial.”

The bus service officially begins on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.
