Procession for Fallen Police Officer Sean Gannon

This afternoon, fallen Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon will be escorted with full law enforcement honors from Doan Beal and Ames on West Main Street in Hyannis to St. Pius Church in Yarmouth.

The community is asked to wear blue and to line the streets as the procession escorting Officer Gannon makes its way to the church.

The procession will begin at Doan Beal and Ames at approximately 3:00 this afternoon. It will follow this route:

  • Right on West Main Street to West End Rotary
  • Right at Rotary to South Street
  • Left at Lewis Road passing Cape Cod Hospital
  • Right on East Main Street
  • Route 28 in West Yarmouth all along Route 28 to North Main Street in South Yarmouth at Bass River Bridge
  • Left on North Main Street
  • Left on to Station Avenue to St. Pius Church

The wake will be held this afternoon, Tuesday, April 17th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at St. Pius X Church in South Yarmouth.

Station Avenue will be closed from Hazelmore Avenue to Wood Road from 4:45 PM through 6:30 PM.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 11:00 AM. Please note that Station Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic at approximately 10:00 AM and remain closed until approximately 1:00 PM.

Following the mass, a private funeral procession will take place down Station Avenue/North Main Street to Route 28, west to Higgins Crowell Road and to Chandler Gray Cemetery for a private burial.

Parking at the Dennis-Yarmouth High School is reserved for Police and First Responders attending the funeral. Due to the anticipated large participation from the Law Enforcement Community, and in order to ensure the privacy of Officer Gannon’s family, you are encouraged to show your respect by attending the procession along the road following the funeral mass.
