Senator-Elect Julian Cyr to Hold Policy Summit

An opportunity to discuss local issues in interactive sessions designed to shape future policy

What is your vision for the future of Cape Cod? It’s time to share your voice as our new Senator prepares policy for the coming legislative session.

Cape and Islands State Senator-Elect Julian Cyr wants to hear from residents, community stakeholders, elected officials, business and non-profit leaders from Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. What matters to you?

Join Senator Cyr for an interactive discussion on Saturday, January 7th, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM in the Tilden Arts Center of Cape Cod Community College.

“The aim of the Policy Summit is to get Cape Codders and Islanders from all walks of life into a room to talk about the issues. My hope is that anyone who has a stake in the future of the Cape and Islands will come out to join the conversation,” says Cyr.  “I also want to be purposeful about how we’re conducting our business. I want to be accessible, and I want to be really mindful about who gets a seat at the table. Not everyone is comfortable speaking directly with their elected representatives, but I want to break down those boundaries and bring the conversation to them.”

Local leaders will facilitate an interactive conversation in small group discussions. Participants will provide feedback on policy areas important to the Cape and Islands district. You have six separate sessions to choose from:

    • RAISING A FAMILY on the Cape and Islands
    • WORKING on the Cape and Islands
    • LIVING on the Cape and Islands
    • AGING on the Cape and Islands
    • PRESERVING the Cape and Islands
    • SERVING on the Cape and Islands

Senator Cyr, who is being sworn in to office on January 4, 2017, will use information gleaned at the policy summit to further inform his policy priorities for the 2017-2018 legislative session.
