Summer Camps: Wrapping up

As summer wraps up, we welcomed our final group of students to  camp! Rowan, Sophia, Abrianna and Ana were hard at work and having fun. They began the week by brainstorming some pre production ideas for their project. As you may remember, the Cape Cod Community Media Center has been invited to participate in a state-wide event called Crowdsourced Boston. This event distributes different scenes from the same movie to media centers all around the state. Each center submits their scenes, and the entirety of the movie is then edited together. The movie being used for Crowdsourced Boston this year is Back To The Future. The campers created a prop list after watching their two minute scene play through multiple times. They then storyboarded some of the shots that would be used in filming to make the process a bit smoother.

The interns set up the green screen, and the campers experimented! Ana, Sophie and Abrianna used the green screen to insert themselves into an image with the High School Musical cast. Rowan directed a bit, asking the girls to perform as if they were in The Little Mermaid using an underwater background. He even pranked them by changing the background to the face of Chucky!

As for the movie scene, we had Ana playing the role of Doc, Rowan playing the role of Marty and Sophia as a police officer. Abrianna was most interested in learning about the technical side of production, so she has manned the cameras throughout the filming process. On Wednesday, the whole staff participated in scene number 3, which involved transforming the studio into a high school prom scene! Rowan continued in his role as Marty, Abriana and Sophia made their first appearance on camera as dancers, and Ana stepped in as Marty’s mom. Some of our talented community members joined us as well to take on singing roles.

To close out the week, the campers decided to make their very own “The Office” parody! We were so thrilled to have such a talented and eager group of campers to close out our summer camp sessions. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
