Two young parents are facing a slew of charges following an incident in which their 3 year old child accidentally shot herself with her father’s firearm.

On December 23, 2016, Yarmouth police responded to a home on Captain Daniel Road to find the three year old suffering from a gunshot wound to her left hand.

Police say the young girl found a fully loaded unsecured handgun, left on a nightstand in a bedroom shared by her parents.

The child was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and then transported to a Boston hospital.  She is expected to make a full recovery.

Yarmouth Police concluded its investigation this week, and found the parents at fault. 30 year old Nicholas Jenner and 29 year old Alexsandra Jenner are facing multiple charges, including improper storage of a large capacity firearm near a minor, improper storage of a firearm, and unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm.

The Yarmouth Police Department reminds everyone who has a firearm to be fully aware of the proper safety procedures and their legal storage requirements and all of the Massachusetts gun laws.
