Yarmouth Police Arrest Subject for False Threat to a School

A 21 year old Forestdale resident is facing charges after allegedly making threats through social media to commit violence at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.

Late Sunday night, police received information about the threats. The Yarmouth Police Detective Division, working closely with Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School administration and school resource police officers, obtained a warrant for the arrest of a former D-Y student, 21 year old Koda Robinson-Matthew.

At approximately 2:00 PM on Monday, December 18, members of the YPD Proactive Anti-Crime Unit was able to track down Robinson-Matthew at a  residence in Sandwich. Robinson-Matthew was placed under arrest and taken to YPD headquarters.

During an interview at YPD headquarters, the subject indicated the intent of the threat was to alarm people and see how many students would stay out of school, and had no intentions of carrying out the violence. Robinson-Matthew was released from YPD custody and was due for arraignment in Barnstable District Court this morning.

 

This type of threat is considered a felony in Massachusetts. Potential punishment includes up to 3 years in state prison, a fine of up to $50,000, or a fine and imprisonment.
