Yarmouth Police Assist US ICE Agents in Arrest of Cocaine Trafficker

On Friday, January 19, 2018 at 5:30AM, members of the Yarmouth Police Department Detective Division Drug Enforcement Unit and the Proactive Anti-Crime Unit assisted United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents in the apprehension of Gabriel Martins originally from Brazil and living in Barnstable.

Martins was arrested by the Yarmouth Police Department in December 2017 for trafficking in 33 grams of cocaine and also in possession of 28 grams of marijuana when he was found in a vehicle parked at Bayview Beach in West Yarmouth.

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcements Agents obtained a warrant for Martin’s arrest and requested our assistance in apprehending Martins.

Joint surveillance by Yarmouth Police and United States Immigration and Customs Agents was conducted during the early morning hours of January 19th and Martins was observed arriving to the parking area of 23 Whites Path in South Yarmouth where he worked as a cleaner.

Martins was taken into custody by Yarmouth Police Officers and US ICE Agents without incident.

US ICE Agents took custody of Martins and he was transported from the scene directly to Rhode Island for processing at the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Regional Office.
