Yarmouth Police Department Welcomes Two, Promotes Three

Two new officers have joined the Yarmouth Police Department, and three veteran officers have been promoted. This week, YPD welcomed Patrol Officer Matthew Mongano. Officer Mongano is a graduate of the Municipal Police Training Committee Police Academy at New Braintree, a United States Army Reserve Sergeant, and a winner of the Civil Affairs Best Warrior Competition. Patrol Officer Ryan Murphy joins the force after serving 3 years as a full time Wellfleet Police Officer. He’s also a graduate of the Municipal Police Training Committee Police Academy at New Braintree, and served as a Student Security Officer at Westfield State University. Newly promoted Lieutenant Andrew O’Malley is a 17 year veteran of the Yarmouth Police Department. Lieutenant O’Malley is Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team Assistant Team Commander, Mental Health Outreach Supervisor, Massachusetts Police Training Council Level 4 Instructor, and was named 2016 Yarmouth Police Officer of the Year. Newly promoted Sergeant George Tsoukalas , a 20 year veteran of the YPD is Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team Leader and Firearms Unit Instructor. Newly promoted Sergeant Brian Carchedi is a 5 year veteran of the YPD and a 5 year veteran of the Orleans Police Department. Sergeant Carchedi is a Cape Cod Regional SWAT Assistant Team Leader, a First Responder instructor, a Narcan instructor, and an Active Shooter instructor.

Congratulations to the new and newly promoted members of the Yarmouth Police Department. Our uniformed officers work hard every day to ensure a safe and healthy community.
