Virtual Story Slam: Because of Your Kindness

This quarter’s theme/topic is “Because of Your Kindness” and we are looking for stories that have to do with the impact of kindness in our lives and community. Maybe someone did something kind for you and you never let them know the impact it had on you – Now is your chance! Or maybe you did something kind for someone else and in the end it ended up having a bigger impact on your life that you ever could have expected. Maybe you have a Kindness Rock story? Kindness comes in many shapes and sizes – we want YOU to share YOUR story and spread a little kindness to the community – and perhaps even the world! Typically this event would be held at the brewery and people would enjoy the event LIVE, possibly with a cold beer or rootbeer in their hand, but given the circumstances we’re going to give the virtual version a go! So how does that work?

STORY VIEWERS:

If you are a listener/story viewer (ie you don’t have a story to tell, you just want to watch) then all you need to do is REGISTER via EventBrite and put the date on your calendar. As we get closer to the day of the event we will send you an email with all the instructions you need to watch online! If you want to help spread some kindness, please consider sharing our event with your friends. We think there will be some very inspiring stories, and don’t we all need as much of that as we can get right now?! So share away!

On the evening of the event you will have two choices for viewing:

  1. On Facebook Live on the Cape Cod Community Media Centers Facebook page (CCB and TKRP will likely share the live feed on their facebook pages as well)
  2. On Channel 99 in Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich & Chatham (the towns the CCCMC serves)

When you REGISTER we will then have your email address to send you reminders and last minute updates re the event!

STORY TELLERS:

If you are a storyteller ( you want to tell story virtually):

  1. First REGISTER as a story teller so we know how many (or few) we have.
  2. Download this helpful TIPS FOR STORY TELLERS pdf.
  3. Create your video based on the instructions on the pdf.
  4. Submit the video file to us (again see instructions) BEFORE 6pm on May 15, 2020.

While we can not guarantee that all Stories will be used, we hope that many/most will be. We will be curating them based on the quantity received. All Storytellers will receive an email telling them if their story will be part of the virtual event, and instructions how to share the event.

A Little Community Kindness:

Please note while this is a TOTALLY FREE EVENT, the organizers: The Kindness Rocks Project, The Cape Cod Community Media Center and Cape Cod Beer, all wanted to to do something KIND for our community that has been greatly impacted by the pandemic, so you will notice an OPTIONAL donation opportunity on the EventBrite Ticket Link. We have chosen to put two donation options including:

  1. The Family Pantry of Cape Cod
  2. The Cape Cod Resilience Fund

See below for descriptions of both organizations. If you have a few bucks to share – please do. We know this is a difficult time for many – so no pressure. Really!

That’s it! So either REGISTER as a Story Teller or a Story Watcher. And we’ll see you all ONLINE on Thursday May 21st at 6:30pm.
