Our Mission Statement: <\/b>The Cape Media Center mission is to build community through media.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Learning Objectives<\/b>: The intern will gain professional, hands-on experience in the field of media production while simultaneously building a portfolio. They will build\u00a0 an understanding of public access media and the essentials of running a successful non profit organization.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Internship Job Description:<\/b>\u00a0<\/b>The Media Center offers summer internships for college students and young<\/span> adults who are interested in a career in communications, media, film, and<\/span> television production. Media Center interns gain hands-on production experience<\/span> in a professional environment, and have gone on to pursue careers in film,<\/span> communications, journalism, and television production. Internships are unpaid<\/span> but can be taken as course credit. Our schedule is flexible and part-time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Activities you can expect to experience as a Media Center<\/span> intern:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

  • Brainstorming with other interns as a production team to produce an original program or series<\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Assisting Media Center staff in recording studio television programs<\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Assisting Media Center staff with video field productions<\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Conducting interviews with local community leaders<\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Assisting with youth camps<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    Skills you can expect to gain as a Media Center intern:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    • Producing a program in a professional television studio<\/span><\/p><\/li>

    • Using cameras, microphones, and lighting in video productions\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li>

    • Editing skills through the use of Adobe Premiere Pro<\/span><\/p><\/li>

    • Interviewing, hosting, and storytelling skills<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

      Requirements:<\/span><\/p>

      • An interest in film, media, television, podcasting or journalism<\/span><\/p><\/li>

      • Basic knowledge of video production and editing<\/span><\/p><\/li>

      • The ability to work well as part of a team<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

        Tasks may include the following:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

        Pre-Production\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

        • Training on studio and field equipment<\/span><\/p><\/li>

        • Logging and editing raw footage<\/span><\/p><\/li>

        • Creating a shot sheet for future videos and storyboarding<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

          Production\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

          • Assisting on various in-studio and field productions<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

            • Creating original promotional materials for the media center\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

              • Podcasting\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

                Editing<\/span><\/p>

                • Editing the final production in Adobe Premiere Pro<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

                  Additional responsibilities\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

                  • Field assignments – determining preproduction with the intern manager to successfully film in the field\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li>

                  • Marketing the Media Center – be proficient in articulating what the media center provides to the community<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>
